Chapter History

The Winston-Salem Alumnae Club of Zeta Tau Alpha was organized in the spring of 1956.  

7 college chapters were represented and the Officers in 1955-1956 were:

President:  Mrs. Quentin T Brown (Louise Wood - Omicron)

Vice-President:  Mrs. Arthur J McGrane (Rosalie Williams - Phi)

Secretary:  Mrs. Bernice Ross (Bernice Ulrich - Phi)

Treasurer:  Mrs. William Pedretty (Catherine Partain - Zeta)

 

The group planned for 9 meetings from Sept to June.

 

Zeta Day was in Durham on May 7.  Three sisters went to represent the club.  

 

Officers in 1956-1957 were:

President:  Rosalie McGrane

Vice-President: Jean Williams

Secretary:  Ruby Moxley

Treasurer:  Marie Wallace

 

In 1970 the group applied for a Charter.  The group name was to be the Winston-Salem, North Carolina Alumnae Chapter and on March 5, 1970 the group  was cleared for chartering with 14 members.  Miss Kathleen E. McHugh was the President.  The offical charter date is April 18, 1970.

Vice-President:  Carol Augustus

Secretary/Historian:  Susan White

Treasurer:  Mary Green

 

April 3, 1971 Zeta Day was in Winston Salem at the Sheraton.

President:  Carol Augustus

Vice-President:  Linda Covington

Secretary/Historian:  Barbara Griffin

Treasurer:  Valerie Parker

 

Officers in 1972-1973 were:  

President:  Valerie Parker

Vice-President: Barbara Griffin

Secretary/Historian:  Kathy McHugh

Treasurer:  Susan White

 

Tax-exempt status was applied for on Sept 20, 1978
